Privacy Policy
TVSpot is built around a simple idea: your data belongs to you. Your watchlist, episode progress, and viewing history live entirely on your device. We don't have a server that stores who you are or what you watch.
01What we collect
We collect a small amount of anonymous, non-identifiable data to keep the app running well:
- Show & episode data — everything you track (watchlist, progress, history) is saved using on-device storage only. It never leaves your device and is never sent to us.
- Anonymous usage analytics — through Firebase Analytics we receive aggregated signals like which screens are visited, how long sessions last, and what device type and OS version are in use. None of this can be linked back to you as an individual.
- Crash reports — when something goes wrong, Firebase Crashlytics sends us a technical snapshot (the error, device model, OS version) so we can fix it. No personal information is included in these reports.
02What we don't collect
We have no accounts, no sign-up, and no backend profile system. We do not collect:
- Your name, email address, or any contact information
- Your precise or approximate location
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA or similar)
- Payment details of any kind
- Any information from your contacts, camera, or microphone
03Third-party services
Firebase (Google) — We use Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics, both configured in their privacy-preserving modes. IP addresses are not logged at the individual level. You can review Google's data practices at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
TVMaze — Show metadata (titles, episode guides, artwork) is fetched directly from TVMaze's public API. When your device makes those requests, your IP address is included as a standard part of the network call. TVMaze's own privacy policy governs how they handle that. We may add additional show data providers in the future and will update this policy accordingly.
04How we use data
The limited analytics and crash data we receive is used for one purpose: making TVSpot better. Specifically:
- Understanding which features are used so we can prioritise improvements
- Diagnosing crashes and fixing bugs quickly
- Making informed decisions about what to build next
We do not sell this data, share it with advertisers, or use it to build profiles about you.
05Subscriptions & payments
Any premium features in TVSpot are sold through Apple's in-app purchase system. All billing is handled entirely by Apple using your Apple ID. We never see, receive, or store your payment details — not even the last four digits of a card.
Apple's privacy policy governs how your payment information is handled during checkout.
06Advertising
TVSpot currently shows no advertising. If we ever introduce ads, we will update this policy before doing so, clearly explaining what data would be used and how. We will not enable interest-based advertising without your knowledge.
07Data retention & deletion
Your on-device data (watchlist, progress, history) is yours to keep or delete at any time. Removing the app from your device deletes all of it permanently — we have no copy.
Anonymised analytics and crash data are retained by Firebase according to Google's standard retention schedules, after which they are automatically deleted.
08Children's privacy
TVSpot is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us and we will take prompt action.
09International data transfers
Firebase services are operated by Google and may process anonymised analytics and crash data on servers located in the United States or other countries. By using TVSpot, you acknowledge this. We rely on Google's standard contractual protections for any such transfers.
10Updates to this policy
If we make material changes to how we handle your data, we'll update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes we'll also add a notice inside the app. Continuing to use TVSpot after an update is posted means you've accepted the revised policy.
11Questions & contact
Privacy questions, requests, or concerns are always welcome. The fastest way to reach us is support@tvspot.app — we read and respond to every message.
